In the cold of a Boston winter, on January 8, 2006, the life of 33-year-old Julio J. Ceus, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short by gun violence. In the Allston neighborhood, what should have been an ordinary day turned into a scene of devastating loss when Ceus and an 18-year-old woman, Natalie A. Sumner, were both fatally shot. The incident, a shocking double murder, sent ripples of grief and fear through the community and launched a major investigation by Boston police.
