On March 16, 2025, 21-year-old African American male Xzavier D. Harris was fatally shot during a large gathering in Parchment, Michigan, a suburb just north of Kalamazoo. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. in the 700 block of Shoppers Lane. Upon arrival, Kalamazoo Township Police officers found Harris suffering from gunshot wounds and provided immediate medical assistance before he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
