In the early morning hours of April 25, 2025, the life of 32-year-old Torrance Adaryll Spears Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. The incident unfolded around 1 a.m. at the East Park Manor Public Housing Complex, where officers from the Muskegon Heights Police Department were dispatched following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Spears in a parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate efforts of emergency medical personnel to save him, Spears was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting was promptly initiated, with detectives from the Muskegon Major Case Initiative joining the Muskegon Heights Police Department. During the initial response, an officer on patrol heard the gunshots and observed a vehicle speeding away from the complex. A traffic stop was conducted, but the driver was ultimately found to be unconnected to the shooting. Shortly after, multiple 911 calls began to come in, reporting a person down in the parking lot, which led to the discovery of Spears.
In the course of their investigation, authorities identified two individuals, Fredrick Davis and Wilson Davis, as persons of interest who may possess information crucial to the case. Law enforcement has publicly appealed for assistance in locating these men for questioning. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Torrance Spears Jr., and the investigation remains active. Police have not publicly disclosed a motive for the shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting or the whereabouts of Fredrick and Wilson Davis to come forward and contact the Muskegon Heights Police Department or Silent Observer.
