Kaven R. Gathing, a 59-year-old man, was found fatally shot inside a residence at the John DeShields Housing Projects in East St. Louis, Illinois. The tragic incident occurred late on the night of January 1, 2025, with authorities responding to reports of gunfire at approximately 11:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Gathing and another victim, 57-year-old Deron E.
