In the early morning hours of Friday, April 10, 2026, the quiet streets of East St. Louis, Illinois, were shattered by violence. Just after 5 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2200 block of Market Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a tragic scene. Inside a vehicle, they found 29-year-old Davanta McCray, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
