Marcellino Borzewski, 27, was fatally shot in Chicago's Belmont Cragin neighborhood during the early morning hours of January 18, 2025. The incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. in the 6000 block of West Belden Street, where Borzewski and another 29-year-old man were standing outside when gunfire erupted.
Borzewski, a resident of River Grove, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was rushed to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The second victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, suffered gunshot wounds to the back and shoulder and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.
The shooting appears to have been a drive-by incident, with Borzewski being characterized as an innocent victim. At the time of his death, he was a father to six-year-old twin boys, Angelo and Lorenzo. Area Five detectives are actively investigating the case.
Borzewski was remembered as a devoted father who worked tirelessly to provide for his twin sons.
