In the spring of 2007, concern began to mount for Joyce Yolanda Davenport, a 38-year-old woman living in Oklahoma City. When a family member was unable to reach her after repeated attempts, they went to her apartment in the northwest part of the city to check on her. Their knocks went unanswered, and they departed, only to return the following morning with a growing sense of unease.
Still unable to get a response, the family member sought help from the apartment complex manager.
On the morning of April 23, 2007, they entered Joyce's apartment to find a tragic scene. Joyce Davenport was deceased inside her own home. The subsequent investigation by the medical examiner would determine that she had died as a result of blunt force trauma to her head.
