His commitment to public service was evident in his new role as a Louisville Metro Corrections Officer, having just joined the department in November of the previous year after completing his training.
The investigation into Wehdah's death revealed that he was last seen by his family on the afternoon of Saturday, February 15, after he returned home from his 6 a.m. shift at the jail. His family left the home a short time later, and that was the last time they saw him alive. They tried unsuccessfully to contact him multiple times throughout the day. A significant development in the case came with the arrest of 35-year-old Kristy Brumley. She was charged with complicity to murder in connection with Wehdah's death. Following the shooting, Brumley allegedly took Wehdah's car and phone in an effort to conceal or destroy evidence.
