An 18-year-old man, identified as Kemoni Pitchford, was fatally shot in Chicago's Austin neighborhood on January 31, 2025. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. in the 200 block of North Central Avenue, where Pitchford and another man, aged 26, were standing on a sidewalk when gunfire erupted. Pitchford sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County medical examiner’s office later confirmed his death as a homicide.
