William Edward Spann Jr., a 75-year-old African American man, was found dead in a burning minivan in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago on September 11, 2019. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office determined that Spann died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
