He had spent the afternoon enjoying a holiday meal with relatives, leaving their home on Chapel Hill Street around 5:00 p.m. to walk the short distance to his own house. This was the last time he was ever seen. Mr. Lomax, known to be in good health and physical condition for his age, did not have a driver's license and walked everywhere he went.
The following day, a friend who had dropped off a plate of food for him discovered it untouched. This discovery prompted his friend to contact the police.
