In the winter of 2025, a quiet neighborhood on the east side of Indianapolis was disturbed by a grim discovery that would leave family and friends searching for answers. On the afternoon of January 8th, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 5200 block of East 20th Place to conduct a welfare check.
A neighbor had grown concerned after noticing unusual activity, specifically a garage door left open overnight and a resident's work truck not having left for the day. Upon entering the residence, police found the bodies of 57-year-old Deborah Denise Russell and 60-year-old Lowell Randall Quinnette.
Both Russell and Quinnette had been shot to death inside the home where Quinnette had resided for nearly four decades. Family members described him as a maintenance man and a musician. He and Russell were said to have been in a long-term, on-again, off-again relationship. On March 4, 2025, the Marion County Coroner's Office officially ruled the deaths of both Deborah Russell and Lowell Quinnette as homicides.
