Samuel “Sammy” Jackson, a 59-year-old African American man, was found dead in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 29, 2025. A respected figure in the basketball community, Jackson had served as head coach at Fort Valley State University and Savannah State University, and held assistant coaching positions at several other institutions, including the University of Alabama and Georgia Southern University. At the time of his death, he was working as an Uber Eats driver to supplement his income.
