In the winter of 2025, the life of Samuel 'Sammy' Jackson, a 60-year-old former college basketball coach, came to a tragic and violent end. Jackson, who was working as an Uber Eats driver, was reported missing by his wife on January 27, 2025. She had last spoken to him the previous night as he was getting ready for his shift. The following day, his BMW was discovered abandoned at an apartment complex in Bonaire, Georgia, with its contents scattered across the seats and floor.
Concern for
Jackson's whereabouts grew, and his son was able to track his father's phone to an area off Bolton Road in Atlanta. The Atlanta Police Department was alerted and, after a search of the vicinity near Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway on January 29, 2025, they discovered a man's body in a wooded area. The victim, who had been shot multiple times, was identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office as Samuel Jackson.
The investigation into Jackson's death quickly led authorities to a person of interest. Police identified 30-year-old Iquane Brown as the individual who had ordered a rideshare from Jackson in Houston County shortly before he disappeared. Brown was taken into custody on January 31, 2025, initially on unrelated charges.
Following his arrest, Iquane Brown was charged with a litany of crimes related to Samuel Jackson's death. These charges included murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, hijacking of a motor vehicle, kidnapping, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Brown is being held at the Houston County jail.
