On a cold winter’s night in Elkhart, Indiana, the life of 18-year-old Fernanda Leon was tragically cut short. On Sunday, January 26, 2025, gunshots rang out near the intersection of South 6th Street and Hively Avenue, prompting a 911 call to the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center at approximately 11:20 p.m. Shortly after, a private vehicle arrived at Elkhart General Hospital carrying an unconscious Leon, who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
