In Fort Wayne, Indiana, a community was left to grapple with the sudden and tragic loss of Leanne Lynn Gonzalez, a 45-year-old Hispanic woman known for her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter. On May 5, 2025, authorities were called to a residence in a north-side trailer park after discovering the front door unsecured and partially ajar. Inside, they found a grim scene: Leanne and a man, later identified as 48-year-old Sean Bronson Baer, were both deceased.
The Allen County Coroner's
Office determined that Leanne had suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the chest, and her death was officially ruled a homicide. Baer's death was determined to be a suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators have not released a motive or the circumstances that led to the tragic murder-suicide. There have been no other suspects or arrests mentioned in connection with this case.
Leanne was a 1998 graduate of Northrop High School and held a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She had dedicated much of her career to the Indiana Department of Correction and Allen County Community Corrections before recently taking a position as an Asset Protection Manager for Amazon. She was remembered by friends and family as a spirited adventurer who loved to travel and found joy in nature. She is survived by her two daughters, two grandsons, her mother, and three siblings. A memorial service to celebrate her life was scheduled for May 31, 2025, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Wayne. In her memory, her family suggested that donations be made to The Domestic Violence in Allen County Women's Fund of Greater Fort Wayne.
