On a spring day in Columbus, Georgia, the life of 27-year-old Jaylon Wesley, a male, was tragically cut short. On April 11, 2025, police responded to a call and found Wesley lying in the middle of Colorado Street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Wesley, known to some as 'Dank,' was a self-employed landscaper in the area.
The Columbus Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit immediately began an investigation into the shooting.
Their inquiries led them to identify a vehicle that was involved in the incident. Fourteen days after the fatal shooting, on April 25, 2025, authorities made an arrest. The driver of the vehicle, 37-year-old Calvin Johnson, was taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Calvin Johnson was charged with murder as a party to a crime and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.
