On April 11, 2025, 27-year-old African American man Jaylon Wesley was fatally shot in Columbus, Georgia. Officers from the Columbus Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 900 block of Rigdon Road. Upon arrival, they found Wesley lying in the middle of Colorado Street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:36 p.m. by Muscogee County Coroner Dustin Harrelson.
