According to the initial account provided by his parents, a gun that had been stored in a
bag accidentally discharged when the bag fell. The father reported hearing a sound he mistook for a falling book. It was Jayce's mother, Cynkeythia Robinson, who discovered her son bleeding in the bedroom where he had been sleeping alone. This narrative, however, began to crumble as investigators delved deeper into the circumstances surrounding the young boy's death.
The turning point in the investigation came with the autopsy report, which revealed a detail inconsistent with a gun firing after a fall.
