On June 20, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred at the Heritage Station apartment complex in southwest Atlanta, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including 15-year-old Mario Favors. The incident took place near the intersection of McDaniel Street and Stephens Street, close to Gideons Elementary School.
