In the late afternoon of September 22, 2014, a young Black man named Ishmael K. McGhee, aged 21, was fatally shot in Atlanta, Georgia. The incident, which contributed to the city's ongoing struggle with gun violence, took place around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Dill and Athens avenues in the southwest part of the city.
