In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Denver, Colorado, the life of 33-year-old Gregory Herrera Santoro was tragically cut short. On August 25, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., gunfire erupted in the 4400 block of South Syracuse Street, forever altering the course of many lives. Santoro, a male, was one of two victims in a violent double homicide that also claimed the life of 16-year-old Brayan Espino Ibarra.
Following the shooting, a wounded Santoro managed to drive away from the
scene. His desperate attempt to flee ended about three miles away, in the 7000 block of East Hampden Avenue, where he was found. Despite his efforts, the injuries he sustained proved to be fatal. Brayan Espino Ibarra was pronounced dead at the initial location of the shooting.
The investigation into the double homicide led Denver police to identify a suspect in the case. Authorities announced that 22-year-old Kervin Jose Mota, who also goes by the alias 'Cuerito,' was the alleged gunman responsible for the deaths of both Santoro and Ibarra. A search for Mota was subsequently launched, with law enforcement appealing to the public for any information regarding his whereabouts.
