In the early morning hours of Saturday, May 3, 2025, tragedy struck in the 500 block of Newcomb Street, Southeast, in Washington, D.C. It was there that 31-year-old Alex Alexander, a male resident of Gaithersburg, Maryland, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. The incident, which occurred at approximately 12:23 a.m., prompted a swift response from the Seventh District officers of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered Mr.
Alexander unconscious and not breathing. Emergency medical personnel from DC Fire and EMS were dispatched to the location but could find no signs of life. Alex Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene, his life cut short by the violence that unfolded on the quiet residential street.
The Metropolitan Police Department has since launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting. Authorities are actively seeking assistance from the public to piece together the events that led to Mr. Alexander's death. As of now, the case remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Police have not released any information regarding a suspect or suspects. To encourage potential witnesses to come forward, the department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide.
