On the evening of January 19, 2025, a gathering at a residence on West Laguna Street in Tucson, Arizona, turned deadly, resulting in the shooting death of 57-year-old David Debois Johnson. The male victim was at the house with others when a confrontation broke out, leading to gunfire shortly after 10:00 p.m.
When Tucson Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Mr. Johnson and another man, 55-year-old Clinton Eric Dale, inside the residence.
Both men had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives were called in to lead the investigation.
Investigators determined that a number of individuals were present at the gathering when the shooting occurred. While some witnesses were interviewed at the scene after a search warrant was obtained for the home, police believe that several other potential witnesses fled before their arrival. Authorities appealed to the public for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
In the days following the double homicide, the investigation led law enforcement to a suspect. On January 24, 2025, the suspect in the killings of Johnson and Dale was located in Yuma, Arizona. In a confrontation with U.S. Marshals, the suspect was shot and killed. The investigation into the circumstances of the initial shooting in Tucson remains ongoing.
