In the afternoon hours of April 16, 2025, tragedy struck a Phoenix apartment complex, leaving a young man's life cut short. Damien Jackson Jr., a 26-year-old Black man, was in a common area between two apartment buildings near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road when he was shot. The incident prompted a swift response from Phoenix Police officers, who arrived at the scene around 2:03 p.m. to find Jackson suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
