In the spring of 2025, a domestic altercation in Tallassee, Alabama, tragically cut short the life of 22-year-old Malik Deandre Allen. A Black male, Allen was fatally shot on the evening of Saturday, April 26, 2025. The incident unfolded in the 900 block of Hickory Street, where a confrontation between three individuals escalated into violence. The scene of the shooting was marked by the recovery of more than 30 shell casings, indicating the intensity of the event.
Following the shooting, Allen was transported by a private vehicle to Community Hospital in Tallassee. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, he could not be revived.
The day after the fatal shooting, the Tallassee Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect. Dakarian J. Hughley, 21, also of Tallassee, was taken into custody and identified as the primary suspect in Allen's murder. Law enforcement officials stated that Hughley was cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The confrontation that led to the shooting was described as being related to a domestic incident.
Born on October 13, 2002, in Montgomery, Alabama, Malik Allen was remembered as a kind-hearted individual with a contagious smile who enjoyed making people laugh. In his youth, he and his sisters attended the Flat Rock Missionary Church. He also found joy in assisting his late grandfather on his farm. His family and friends recall him as someone who was always willing to help others. At the time of his passing, Allen was anticipating the birth of his daughter.
