In the evening hours of Friday, November 15, 2013, the life of 38-year-old Moray Morris, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. Officers from the West Precinct were dispatched to a residence at 2740 23rd Street in the Ensley neighborhood at approximately 8:35 p.m. to investigate a report of a deceased person.
Upon their arrival, authorities discovered Moray Morris unresponsive inside the home. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the scene and officially pronounced him deceased. Investigators observed that Morris appeared to have been the victim of an assault, which led them to promptly classify the case as a homicide.
A graduate of West End High School, Morris was a father to a daughter and a son. In the days following the discovery of his body, the Birmingham Police Department announced they were actively investigating the killing. However, at that time, they had not made any arrests in connection with the case. Authorities appealed to the public for assistance, encouraging anyone with information to come forward to help bring closure to the investigation into his untimely death.
