Randal Apostalon, a 60-year-old man, was tragically murdered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2021. His body was discovered inside his own pickup truck at the Albuquerque International Sunport, alongside the dismembered remains of three other victims. Apostalon had reportedly been living in his truck and was known to take cash jobs performing maintenance or manual labor. On February 24, 2021, he was contacted by Sean Lannon, who offered to pay him to move some boxes into storage.
Unbeknownst to Apostalon, the storage bins contained the dismembered bodies of Lannon's ex-wife, Jennifer Lannon, and two other men, Jesten Mata and Matthew Miller.
According to court documents, Lannon lured Apostalon into assisting him with the transportation of the bins. When they were unable to find a storage facility, Lannon brutally beat Apostalon to death in a southeast Albuquerque apartment parking lot. He then left Apostalon's body intact in the front passenger seat of the truck, covering it with a tarp, while the dismembered remains of the other victims were stored in bins in the back of the vehicle. Surveillance footage later showed Lannon parking the truck at the Sunport and leaving in a cab.
Authorities charged Sean Lannon with Apostalon's murder, along with multiple other crimes, including the murders of Jennifer Lannon, Jesten Mata, and Matthew Miller. Lannon initially admitted to killing 15 people across New Mexico and New Jersey, though investigators have not confirmed all of his claims. In 2024, Lannon pleaded guilty to Apostalon's murder, receiving a 15-year prison sentence. He had previously been sentenced to 35 years for the murder of Michael Dabkowski in New Jersey. Lannon is also awaiting trial for the murders of his ex-wife and two other men in Cibola County.
Apostalon's family expressed their grief and outrage during court proceedings, condemning Lannon's actions. His brothers described the pain of losing their sibling in such a horrific manner and wished for justice to be served. Lannon's sentencing ensures that he will serve his time in New Mexico before returning to New Jersey to complete his sentence for Dabkowski's murder.
