On October 9, 1978, 18-month-old African-American female Latoya Thompson tragically lost her life in a horrific act of violence in Dallas, Texas. She perished alongside her mother, 18-year-old African-American female Vivian Geanett Thompson, and her 3-year-old brother, Maurice. The incident occurred when Robert Charles Ladd, a 21-year-old African-American male, broke into their apartment. Ladd brutally stabbed Vivian ten times in the back, neck, chest, and abdomen.
