On October 28, 2022, 46-year-old African American male Kendrick De'Wone Williams Sr. drove his 21-year-old son, Dewone Williams, to the Shamrock gas station at the corner of Corinth Street and Morrell Avenue in Dallas, Texas. They were there so Dewone could meet his boss to collect a paycheck. Both father and son waited inside Kendrick's vehicle, a 2008 silver Dodge Charger, near gas pump number 4.
