On January 26, 2023, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Dallas police officers on routine patrol in the 5500 block of Tenison Parkway observed a vehicle with multiple bullet holes. Inside, they discovered 24-year-old Jorge Moises Martinez-Lorenzo in the driver's seat, suffering from a gunshot wound. Martinez-Lorenzo was born on December 16, 1998, in Veracruz, Mexico, to parents Jorge Luis Martinez Tapia and Maria Guadalupe Lorenzo Garcia. After moving to the United States in October 2017, he had graduated high school and attended college in Mexico, studying to be a nurse. He began working for Taylor Farms and served with them for two years. Known for his close relationship with his family, he was described as the best son, treating his mother and sister with kindness. He enjoyed watching movies, playing basketball, and spending time with loved ones. His hobbies included collecting Pops, jackets, beanies, and caps, and he cherished nature outings, nighttime drives, and the Dallas skyline. He was adored by all who knew him and will be missed by his devoted husky, Spike, and schnauzer, Jacob.
The investigation into Martinez-Lorenzo's death led authorities to identify 22-year-old Julian Santana Alvear as the suspect. A warrant for murder was issued for Alvear's arrest.
