Daniel Lauer, a 21-year-old man, was found deceased on October 19, 1989, in New Kent County, Virginia. His body was discovered alongside that of Annamaria Phelps, an 18-year-old woman, in the woods near a rest area on Interstate 64 between Williamsburg and Richmond. The two were last seen alive on September 5, 1989, at a rest stop for westbound Interstate 64 traffic, less than a mile from where their remains were later found.
