In a tragic turn of events on October 8, 2014, 19-year-old Adreena D. Gary lost her life in a violent incident in Richmond, Virginia. Remembered as a kind and helpful individual, Adreena had aspirations of becoming a lawyer and was studying criminal justice. She found herself in the midst of a domestic dispute at the home of her friend, 22-year-old Michelle S.
Kelly, on East Roanoke Street, where she was attempting to mediate the conflict between Michelle and her ex-boyfriend, Traymont Burton.
The situation escalated dramatically, leading Burton to fatally shoot Adreena outside the residence. Following this senseless act, Burton entered the house and killed Michelle and her 2-year-old son, Keytrell Kelly. The tragic event concluded with Burton taking his own life at the scene.
Richmond Police responded to a call of shots fired and discovered the bodies of Adreena, Michelle, and Keytrell, quickly identifying the incident as a murder-suicide. The investigation determined that Traymont Burton was the sole person responsible for the deaths, with the motive stemming from the domestic dispute with Michelle. As the perpetrator was deceased, no further arrests were made or charges filed in connection with this devastating loss of life that shook the community.
