Wendy Dehoop, a 44-year-old biracial woman, disappeared on April 22, 2005, under mysterious circumstances. She was last seen in Eugene, Oregon, after dropping her husband off at work at a Home Depot location. Wendy, who had previously worked as a police dispatcher, was employed at Georgia-Pacific Mill at the time of her disappearance. She was supposed to drive approximately 30 miles to her workplace in Halsey, Oregon, but never arrived. Her absence was quickly noted, and both her husband and employer reported her missing.
The investigation into Wendy's disappearance uncovered a few puzzling details. Six days after she went missing, a man walking his dog discovered her purse, which was missing her wallet. The purse was turned over to employees at a local store. Four days later, the same man led authorities to Wendy's vehicle—a white two-door 1990 Toyota Corolla SR5—parked on Lorane Highway near Fillmore Street in Eugene. Despite the discovery of her car, there were no signs of Wendy at the scene. The Lane County Sheriff's Office impounded the vehicle and sent it to the Oregon State Police crime lab for analysis. However, investigators found no evidence of violence or foul play.
Wendy's case is particularly unsettling because she was one of three women who vanished from the same area within a span of 30 days. Helen Orderman-Pratt disappeared from her home in Goshen on March 21, 2005, and Rebecca Lynn Hess went missing from her apartment in Creswell on April 14, 2005. Helen was later found deceased inside the detached garage of her residence on September 6, 2005. Rebecca is no longer listed as missing, but details surrounding her discovery remain unclear. Despite these connections, authorities have not established a definitive link between the cases.
To this day, Wendy Dehoop's whereabouts remain unknown. Investigators found no evidence suggesting she left voluntarily, but they also found no signs of foul play.
