On April 26, 1976, Calvin Alexander Brinson, an 18-year-old African American male, was fatally stabbed while incarcerated at the Clark County Jail in Las Vegas, Nevada. Brinson, who had been arrested for an undisclosed offense, was housed in a four-man cell alongside Wayne Donald Horton and Scott Fletcher. During an altercation, Horton and Fletcher attacked Brinson, resulting in his death.
Wayne Donald Horton, a 26-year-old white male, was already in custody awaiting trial for multiple homicides committed in Las Vegas between 1972 and 1975. His known victims included a woman referred to as 'Henderson Jane Doe,' Edward Anthony Buccieri, a 52-year-old shift boss at Caesar's Palace, and William Tinnell, a cab driver. Following Brinson's death, Horton and Fletcher were charged with his murder. Horton subsequently entered a plea deal, confessing to all four murders in exchange for the prosecution not seeking the death penalty. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
Scott Fletcher, also 18 years old at the time, was implicated in Brinson's murder alongside Horton. Details regarding Fletcher's legal proceedings are limited, but records indicate he pleaded guilty to charges related to the incident.
Calvin Brinson was laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Las Vegas.
