Karen Vergata, a 34-year-old woman, was identified as one of the victims in the Gilgo Beach murders, a series of killings that have remained a mystery for decades. She was previously known as 'Jane Doe Seven' or 'Fire Island Jane Doe' until her identity was confirmed through DNA genetic genealogy. Vergata went missing on February 14, 1996, while living in Manhattan, where she was believed to be working as an escort. No missing persons report was filed at the time of her disappearance.
