In the summer of 1974, the community of Petersburg, Virginia, was shaken by a series of disturbing events that would ultimately reveal a chilling betrayal of trust. Among the victims was Josephine L. Thomas, a 73-year-old retired schoolteacher. On June 30, 1974, while under care at Petersburg General Hospital, her life was abruptly ended. It was later determined that Thomas had been murdered, injected with a fatal dose of lidocaine, a heart depressant.
