Ernest Esker Gwinn, a 76-year-old Caucasian male, met a tragic and mysterious end on July 3, 1962. A retired railway worker, Gwinn was last seen in Oak Hill, West Virginia, after cashing his pension check and spending time with friends. His disappearance sparked concern, and nearly a year later, on May 28, 1963, his skull was discovered near Thurmond, West Virginia, bearing a bullet hole.
