On June 27, 2017, David Donnell McDowell, a 35-year-old man from the Oak Hill area in West Virginia, died after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in a fatal shooting incident in the Hilltop area of Fayette County. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 1 a.m., when McDowell traveled to a residence in the Hilltop area, armed with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol.
