In the quiet community of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, the Groene family's life was irrevocably shattered on May 16, 2005. On that day, authorities made a gruesome discovery at their home, finding the bodies of 40-year-old Brenda Groene, her boyfriend Mark McKenzie, 37, and her 13-year-old Caucasian son, Slade Groene.
