David Lavon Mitchell Jr., a 19-year-old African American male from Luling, Louisiana, was found deceased on July 14, 1997, along a remote shell road near Louisiana Highway 3160 in Hahnville. Two days prior, he had attended a family birthday party and was last seen attempting to return home after attending a wedding reception in Killona. His family became concerned when he failed to report to work at St. Charles Parish Hospital, where he was known for his reliability.
