George D. Karns, an 18-year-old male, tragically lost his life on March 11, 1976, in Newry, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Karns was employed at Shaw Oil Company, a gasoline station located along Route 22. On that fateful afternoon, he was shot and killed during an armed robbery at the station. The perpetrators of this crime were Bonnie Jean Heath and Jeffrey Joseph Daugherty, who conspired to rob the establishment. During the robbery, Daugherty fired the fatal shot that claimed Karns' life.
