Vivian Grant Robinson, a 50-year-old state tax auditor, was found deceased in her Sacramento, California, home in 1974. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, an immediate cause of death was not determined. In October 1975, investigators linked the fingerprints of serial killer Thomas Eugene Creech to the crime scene. Subsequent investigations revealed that Vivian Robinson had been suffocated. Creech was convicted of her murder and received a life sentence for this crime.
