Curtis, Sr., a 19-year-old male, was sitting on the front porch of a residence located at 2627 Bellefontaine Avenue alongside 16-year-old Jazmine Stiggers. At approximately 6:56 p.m., the tranquility of the neighborhood was shattered when unknown assailants unleashed gunfire in a drive-by shooting targeting the porch where the two were seated.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find both victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite medical intervention, the injuries proved fatal for both Curtis and Stiggers. The Kansas City Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation, collecting evidence from the scene and interviewing potential witnesses in the area.
