On the evening of August 23, 2008, a double homicide occurred in Kansas City, Missouri, claiming the lives of two young individuals. LaMont D. Curtis, Sr., a 19-year-old male, was sitting on the front porch of a residence located at 2627 Bellefontaine Avenue alongside 16-year-old Jazmine Stiggers. At approximately 6:56 p.m., the tranquility of the neighborhood was shattered when unknown assailants unleashed gunfire in a drive-by shooting targeting the porch where the two were seated.
