Death by Force

Martin Mayo, a 46-year-old male, was a Special Officer with the Galveston Police Department in Texas. On July 28, 1905, he was tragically killed while responding to a domestic disturbance involving a man and a woman who were fighting over a jewelry box. During the altercation, Officer Mayo attempted to intervene and was shot in the back by the male suspect. Despite efforts to save him, Officer Mayo succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
