On September 3, 2023, 21-year-old Brian Anthony Darden II of Lake Jackson, Texas, was fatally shot during a large house party in Galveston. The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. at a residence in the 4000 block of Mendocino Drive on the island's east end. Responding officers found Darden and 20-year-old Jourdan Concepcion of Angleton, Texas, deceased at the scene. Several other individuals sustained injuries during the shooting.
