Deputy Sheriff Serapio Andrade, aged 58, was shot and killed on November 30, 1906, while performing his duties in Val Verde, Texas. Deputy Andrade was transporting several men to jail after arresting them for causing a disturbance in Del Rio. The men, who had been drinking, started firing revolvers in town, prompting Deputy Andrade to arrest them. While transporting the suspects in a hack, the men shot him.
