Private N. P. Doc, also known as Nathaniel Pendergrass Thomas, was a 49-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity. He served as a Texas Ranger and former peace officer. On January 5, 1909, Doc Thomas was shot and killed in Amarillo, Texas. The incident occurred when he was shot by Jim Keeton, a local resident, and despite being rushed to a hospital, Doc Thomas succumbed to his injuries about an hour later while sitting in a chair.
