Deputy Sheriff Wade Hamilton Kelley, aged 39, was killed in the line of duty on April 24, 1911, in Groveton, Texas. Kelley was a male of Caucasian ethnicity and a dedicated officer with the Trinity County Sheriff's Office. He was responding to a call about illegal activity near a lumber mill when he was shot and killed. Four men were arrested in connection with his murder, but the disposition of their cases remains unknown.
