Martell Dierre Stewart, a 25-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life on February 6, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio. He was found lying in a parking lot between two vehicles with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to Mount Carmel West Hospital with life-threatening injuries, he succumbed to his wounds shortly after arrival.
The incident occurred around 9:47 a.m. in the 700 block of Canonby Place, near Sullivant Elementary School. According to police reports, Stewart was at the location to collect a debt, which was possibly related to a Super Bowl bet. The case remains unsolved, and the Columbus Police Department continues to investigate. Detectives have been interviewing neighbors and reviewing security camera footage from the area in hopes of gathering more information.
