Georgia Caroline Geer, a 14-year-old Caucasian girl from Dickinson, Texas, vanished on September 6, 1974, after skipping school with her friend, 12-year-old Brooks Bracewell. They were last seen at a convenience store in Dickinson. Their disappearance went largely unnoticed by local authorities at the time, as Dickinson was too small to have its own police department, and the Galveston County Sheriff's Deputy who took the initial report dismissed it as a case of two runaways.
In 1976, an
oil rig worker discovered a human skull near Alvin, Texas, which was later identified as Georgia's in 1981. The case remained unsolved for years, but in the late 1990s, Edward Harold Bell, a convicted murderer serving a 70-year sentence for a separate crime, began sending letters to local prosecutors claiming responsibility for the murders of several young girls, including Georgia Geer. Bell, who referred to his victims as the "Eleven that went to Heaven," claimed he was brainwashed into committing these crimes.
Despite Bell's confessions, no formal investigation was conducted by the authorities, and the letters were eventually lost. The case of Georgia Geer remains unsolved, and her family continues to seek justice for her tragic death.
