Amelia Castillo, a 48-year-old woman of Hispanic ethnicity from San Antonio, Texas, tragically lost her life on April 27, 1979. She was attending the Battle of Flowers Parade with her family when a gunman, later identified as Ira Attebury, opened fire on the crowd from his motor home. Amelia was among the two people who were killed in this tragic incident, which also left 51 others injured.
